Sean Zarinegar and Youngstown

Well folks I decided to go all the way to Youngstown, as there were not too many places to go explore on the way. I mean don’t get me wrong there are a bunch, but with my time on the road coming to an end and still some major pit stops to go, I need to become selective in where I stop. So I came here to Youngstown because from what I heard on the way was that there is the McDonough Museum of Art located right next to the Butler Museum. Both of these museums complement each other well, as the art museum have a permanent display of local artists and the Butler Museum have a more national selection of American fine arts. You can definitely spend a day there but seeing that Sean Zarinegar is on the clock, I could only browse through their impressive galleries.

I also decided to go to the Children’s Center for Science and Technology downtown. This was a very cool experience, and always is fun to let your inner child experience the beauties and mysteries of science. Sean Zarinegar always allows his inner child to experience such things freely; it makes for ones soul to always stay young.

Either way I decided to not stay too long in Youngstown even though they have an impressive art scene, tomorrow I will be hitting up Cleveland. I need to get all my rest in because I am thinking of doing all I can in Cleveland and then drive straight to the next town. So as I am finishing my meal in this nifty little art cafĂ© I will begin to find a hotel to stay in for the night. Then tomorrow it’s Cleveland baby!

Sean Zarinegar in White Haven

Like I said back in Stroudsburg I had done some research on White Haven prior to coming here. I really wanted to go check out Hickory Run State Park, because they have bears roaming around. Now I know that we’re only coming out of winter but I expect to at least see one bear on my trail. So I decided to hit up this park early, to see if I can get some action.

Unlucky me I couldn’t see any bear but I was wildly impressed about all the surrounding vegetation. This place is awesome, and I continue to be surprised to see how many beautiful parks this country really has. I would love to go visit them all someday, but for now Hickory Run State Park is a very pretty sight.

My next excursion brought me to Daisy Field Farm where I booked a room close by at the Calistoga Room and Spa for the day. This place has HOTSPRINGS! So after my entire day of exploring I will come back and relax in a warm hot spring, to get some of the road tension out of my back. The Daisy Field Farm is a great hiking place to take the entire family, and it is not just a flat piece of land, it actually goes into some woodlands on the way. Very fun stuff!
For now I’ll head back to my hot spring and relax for the evening, tomorrow I’ll be on the road again to explore new place on my roadmap.

Sean Zarinegar hits Stroudsburg

I didn’t expect Stroudsburg to be so entertaining; there are many fascinating things to do over here. One of the best things I found was the Pocono Candle Works. This place had every type of scented candles you can imagine, and the prices were very reasonable. It almost made Sean Zarinegar buy a whole scented candle kit, but I eventually snapped out of it and realized that it would be a purchase I would love to stare at but never have the heart to light. It was quite the experience to see so many candles in one place, and to see the creativity behind each and every one of them. After this spot I decided to run off to Coconut Play Park, which is an amazing place to spend the day. I wasn’t planning on spending the entire day, but I almost did with all the thousands of different rides and activities this Park has to offer. This place will definitely make you go cookoo for Coconut Play Park. I had to escape before the inner child of Sean Zarinegar goes wild and forgets about his road trip.

I decided to also go and visit the Mary Stolz Doll Museum while being here in Stroudsburg. This fascinating museum actually started as a child’s hobby, and then after so many dolls dating since 1910 were obtained, it had to be converted into a museum. This is probably every little girl’s dream, to be in a museum that is only dedicated to dolls. I personally found some of the dolls spooky looking, staring into my soul with their lifeless eyes. I mean I went ghost hunting a while back but seriously some of these dolls really gave me the creeps. But if you like that sort of thing then you will definitely enjoy this dollhouse.

One more stop I did before I ran back to my hotel was Pocono Indian Museum. This place covered the Delaware Indians and has some artifacts that are over 1000 years old. I learned a great deal about the Native Americans in the region.

As for right now, I am writing to you guys from my hotel bed, on my trusty laptop. Tomorrow I will head out to a place called White Haven. I figured that this would be the best next stop to see and I already have a list of some things I want to check out. For now I bit you a goodnight, and tomorrow we will continue with our journey.

Sean Zarinegar hacks it to Hackettstown

Well New York was something, but you could easily lose yourself in New York. I am kind of glad leaving all of the traffic behind too; I was stuck there for quite some time. But finally I reached Hackettstown. I got myself a place early in the morning and checked in and began to explore the place. I found out that there is a place here called the Wick House. This place was owned by General Arthur St. Claire and housed over 10000 soldiers 1779-80. It became the central command point during that cold winter. My hotel was also conveniently close by so this was the first on my stop.

After that I decided to wander off to the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, where I got to see all of the old mining gear they used. It truly is amazing to see what people did so many years ago. I don’t think that Sean Zarinegar will easily go that deep into the earth with what they had. Many miners lost their lives mining, but the rest kept on digging to find their fortune in the ground.

I then decided to venture off to Kittatinny Valley State Park, which I might have to say is one of the most impressive parks I have seen in a while. You can see Glacial Lakes, railroads and even a small airport on this vicinity. There are just places that take your breath away and for Sean Zarinegar this was one of those places. I really enjoyed my time in Hackettstown and the surrounding areas. But for now I must get back to my hotel because talk is cheap and I have a road trip to do. Goodnight everybody.

Sean Zarinegar takes his bite at the Big Apple

New York, New York! Ladies and gentlemen it is exactly what you expect and more! New York is probably one of the coolest cities in the world, it has so many different things to do a man can go insane. It is said that to cross New York on foot from one end to the other it will take you about a week, but I bet you Sean Zarinegar can do it in four days. Maybe I’ll do it, but not this trip.

I had to go to Madison Square Garden, the Empire State Building, Fifth Avenue, and Ellis Island. I mean that is a lot of sights to see. I might even have to stay an extra day to get the most out of New York I possibly can.

I already went to Broadway, because even if I saw a couple of good theaters on my journey. Broadway is Broadway. Besides, the tickets aren’t too expensive and the experience is really remarkable.

Although before I go there I must go and walk around in Central Park, and also get myself a New York style pizza, just to see if it is all worth it. The thing is folks, I’m kind of stunned, there are so many good things for me to see here but I just won’t have the time to experience it all. Maybe next time I’ll just come to New York for a week and tell you more in detail about everything, because if I have to write it all down right now, it might take a while. Right now I am about to venture into all of the spots I mentioned so, I’ll catch up on my travels the next time I can get online. I got all the way to the Big Apple; it’s been a long and delightful trip so far. After this point I am now going back home to Lincoln Nebraska.

I still have a bunch of interesting stops to do on my way home but I am torn in two about continuing on this journey and going home. I do miss home, but this experience has awoken something inside me, something that will let me do this more often. For now, I’m off to take my bite at what New York has to offer. I don’t know what the next stop will be, but I’m sure it’s going to be interesting. This is Sean Zarinegar, and I want to be a part of it…

Philly Cheese Sean Zarinegar

I got in to Philadelphia kind of late last night and just found the first place that wasn’t too expensive to stay at. I have been incredibly lucky by finding Internet connections all over my travels, but here I am in Philly. One thing I definitely have to do in Philadelphia is eat a Philly Cheese Steak. I went o the most local place I could find and obtained one of these wonderfully fatty cheese steaks for only $4. Let me tell you folks Sean Zarinegar was in heaven! Just the way the cheese melts on your taste buds will make any man almost sell his soul. If you have eaten a Philly Cheese Steak before, you must try them in Philadelphia.

I wanted to go to the Barnes Foundation, which is one of the most important art galleries in the world. It houses paintings from Van Gogh, Picasso and Renoir, but unfortunately you have to get the tickets in advance. It is said that as much as forty five days in advance, and as you know that this Sean Zarinegar journey has a time limit. Maybe next time!

Obviously I had to run off to Independence Hall, I just had to. As you know this is the place where the declaration of independence was signed by all the revolutionary greats. And also the Liberty Bell is also located on. It was truly a great experience and something I will never forget. There are so many good things to do in Philadelphia, but sadly I won’t have time to see it all. My journey is still not over and I have a lot of terrain to cover. For now I’ll take it easy one more night in Philadelphia and tomorrow I hit the Big Apple!

Sean Zarinegar in DC, the Capitol baby!

Really it is impressive to see the Capitol in its entire splendor. To think of all the important documents and decisions that are made here that affect each and every one of us, is something mind blowing. Obviously I Sean Zarinegar did everything on the list. I went to see the Lincoln Memorial; drove in front of the White House; and checked out the FBI offices. I mean this place is packed with things to do, more so if you are attracted to government type buildings, but either way anybody can appreciate this scene. There are so many monuments in this place you can spend days just admiring each and every one of them.

I also went to the Smithsonian Museum where I checked out some of the things that had regarding space exploration and so on. If you have ever been to the Smithsonian Museum in your life, you’ll agree with me that it is BIG! There are so many different things to see that you can actually get lost inside. One thing for certain is that time magically moves faster than normal and when you walk outside you will notice the sun made a significant shift in position. Either way after spending hours there I decided to go find some grub, because even Sean Zarinegar needs to be well fed.

I found this little place at Georgetown historic district that was spectacular. There are so many different types of restaurants and shops to choose from that if you don’t hold back you might find yourself with a big dent in your wallet.

Before I left DC I went to Great Falls Park, which is an 800-acre park to ride bikes and take walks. I just stayed there for a little bit because the sun was going down, and I had to skip off to the next location on my list. But I can definitely tell you that the Capitol is a really fun place to be at. I’ll write from good old Philly when I get there.
