Sean Zarinegar and the Castle Norman

Before I continue on the Norman Castle, as promised I will tell you about the Ghost Tour. I found it absolutely amazing! Sean Zarinegar was captivated by the events that were occurring all around, and in fact I don’t really want to tell you any real significant details in case you want to go on one too. The point is that the guide will keep you on your toes throughout the entire tour and you would never be bored at all. I think it just is scarier when someone tells you Ghost stories in a British accent, or at least for me!

Anyway as I am making my list on the best Castles in Europe I simply had to make my way down to Norman Castle. I expected to see a full fledge castle standing in its entire splendor but was surprised to find mere ruins. The sight itself is something incredible to see and with an immaculate garden surrounding it makes it a picture perfect scene. You can even climb all over the towers and walls and appreciate its beauty. A local man explained to me that this Castle is one of the oldest in all of England dating back to William the conqueror. I mean this goes way back in history all the way to the year 1070.

I also found that there is a wall tour, and I thought to myself that a wall tour is something that is a must see. Thus I went on the wall trail, but not before I got an informational leaflet from the information center on Sun Street.

Truly England has an amazing history and I am really excited to find out more about this country. I think my time here in Canterbury might be coming to an end since I still have a lot of the UK to cover. I’m not sure about where I will be traveling to next, but after tonight I will decide. I don’t think I would be able to write to you folks until I reach my next destination so for now this is Sean Zarinegar, saying goodbye to Canterbury.

Sean Zarinegar back in Canterbury

Wasn’t there a Sherlock Holmes story about Canterbury, I’m not sure maybe you guys can tell me by shooting me a mail. Finally Sean Zarinegar came back to Canterbury to see what it all is about. One person on the Isle of Scilly told me that if I’m heading out to Canterbury I should get a passport. I had no idea what he was talking about until he explained that they have a passport for many of the attractions in Canterbury. I thought this to be a novel idea so when I came to Canterbury I asked where I could obtain one. I could order one online so I did just that and got my hands on an Attractions Passport of Canterbury.

Since Canterbury was on my list of Sean Zarinegar Euro Hotspots I decided to take an audio tour. These guys are professional; I mean they translate into seven languages. Kent tours truly showed me Canterbury in a couple of hours and the tour guides are incredibly knowledgable about the surroundings. I think it is a good idea to take a guided tour before heading off into the city myself, so I can get a general idea on where to go back to.

I went to visit the Cathedral since everybody was raving about it, now Sean Zarinegar has seen many Cathedrals in his day, but this one was impressive. The Cathedral dates back all the way to 597 AD when St. Augustine arrived in Canterbury and became the first Archbishop of the area. The Cathedral still is very much apart of the local community and is still being used every single day. This was a very unique sight to see and to think that these buildings have survived for over a thousand years will make any man bit his tongue.

One thing that I am realizing is that the sheer history in Europe is something to admire, and the fact that even though there were wars and conquests many of their ancient buildings are very well preserved.

Due to the ancient nature of this city I decided to go on a Ghost Tour at night. I have been on a couple in the US but I think it would be a unique experience to walk the city of Canterbury at night and go on some ghost hunts. For now I think I’ll need to rest a bit before I go on the Ghost Tour because I have been walking a lot already. Either way in the next blog I’ll tell you about the tour. For now this is Sean Zarinegar getting some R and R.

Sean Zarinegar in Scilly

Wow, this has been a very interesting day so far; this place is great! They say that in Scilly the sky seems bigger, the horizon further away and the landscape broader. I can see why this is such a tourist hotspot, it is beautifully decorated with white sandy beaches and acres of well preserved nature. This is a place to get away from all the movement of the city, and I think it is a good idea that I came here first on my England trip, because I will eventually enter into London, and that is a busy city!

Anyway I decided to take a walking tour here in Scilly and found that the guide knew what he was talking about. He kept Sean Zarinegar very entertained for the hour and half we strolled around the Island. I also took a trip on a boat where it seemed that each and every boat captain was a tour guide as well. Everybody knows everything of this place and there truly is a lot to learn. I decided to stay here over night and then head back to Canterbury to see what is going on over there.

Right now I am sitting down and getting a coffee in a little restaurant that has Internet available, and I’m thinking of getting a bicycle to do some Sean Zarinegar exploring. I find that life here in Scilly must be something completely different, as most people here are always wearing smiles. And I think a bike tour of the Island can give me some unique perspectives of the place. I’ll be sure to take some awesome Sean Zarinegar photos of the surroundings and post them on the blog, for now this is Sean Zarinegar getting ready to put the pedal to the metal, in bicycle terms of course. See you folks!

Sean Zarinegar in the UK

Well ladies and gentlemen I finally made it to the UK. The good thing is that the flight from Ireland to England is not long at all, and I was able to go straight to Canterbury. From my research I knew that this was one place that Sean Zarinegar wanted to explore, since they have wonderful Islands close by called Scilly. I didn’t want to waste more time so I decided to make my way to Canterbury and begin my England tour right there.

The thing about England is that there is so much to see, much more than Ireland. I didn’t know where to begin, but after reading the counts of reviews on Canterbury I knew that this was the place to start. One thing that I must mention that is pretty incredibly is how easy it is to get from point A to B in Europe. I know that Sean Zarinegar only traveled to a few places as of yet, but it still is pretty simple. Even cross country Air travel is incredibly cheap, if you take out all the unnecessary things of air comfort. I found that RyanAir is a brilliant choice for cheap Euro flights, the only thing is that you must make a reservation online since they have no place to buy tickets at any airport. Also you must be very careful with your weight, this other guy was a couple of kilos over and they charged him a hefty fine. Luckily I’m traveling light and this is perfect for me to get across Europe.

Nonetheless it did take a bit to get here to Canterbury; and now that I am checked into a little Inn and having some Earl Grey I got a chance to update my fellow readers. This place has a completely different feel to Ireland and I expect to see much in the morning. I think I’ll be going to Scilly tomorrow to see what all the fuss is about, but right now I am on the verge of logging off and taking a hot bath in my suite. For now this is Sean Zarinegar signing off!

Sean Zarinegar at the cliffs of Moher

Well folks I’m back in the city again but I will have to report to you on the cliffs of Moher. If you ever have a chance to make it to Ireland I strongly recommend you make it out to the cliffs of Moher. Sean Zarinegar isn’t one to get frightened over heights, but if your standing some 200 meters above the ocean on cliffs of sandstone and shale, every now and then you can see a piece of cliff fall into the ocean below.

I kept my distance and after a while of finding a working looking glass just admired the beauty all around. It was quite a distance to travel all the way to the cliffs but let me tell you folks that this was one awesome sight to see. I felt like I was standing on some epic side of the world, maybe even the end of the world. As many people believed back in the day that the world was flat, Sean Zarinegar can see why people believed that. I mean unlike a normal cliff these go straight down vertically. It literally seems as if the world just ends right there. Either way I made my way back to the nearest town where I left my things and prepared to rest, I’m going to travel back to Dublin and then head over to England next. I know there are still a ton of things I could explore over here but I think if I want to see more of Europe it is time to draw a line. I was very interested in checking out some of the leprechaun crossings and bogs, but that will have to wait for the Sean Zarinegar travels only Ireland. Anyway folks I’ll probably write again from England. The Sean Zarinegar can now officially scratch Ireland of the list of things to see in Europe, next stop Heathrow.
